We Remember Benjamin Zephaniah, short film launches tonight

VIDEO from Memorial Event held for Benjamin Zephaniah

The memorial film, We Remember Benjamin Zephaniah, (produced by Flexible Films in conjunction with Benjamin Zephaniah’s family and his estate) will be publicly available tonight (14 March 2026) @ 11:45pm, a day before what would have been Zephaniah’s 68th birthday.

The film was recorded at the first memorial event for Benjamin which took place on 7 December 2024 in London. Footage includes performers and stallholders, interviews from family and attendees, and explores how Zephaniah’s powerful and unapologetic writing tackled issues of racism, inequality, and human rights, inspiring generations of readers.

Benjamin’s distinctive dub poetry style, which blended Reggae rhythms with sharp social commentary, established him as a ground-breaking figure in British literature.
