‘Our Mission, Aims and Objectives’

(The BZFL was formed by Benjamin’s family in January 2024)

The Benjamin Zephaniah Family Legacy Group has the broad plans that are outlined on this page.

The family are determined that, in their own way, they will do what they can to help ensure that Benjamin’s legacy will always be celebrated and recognised.

Broadly speaking the Benjamin Zephaniah Family Legacy Group plans to help keep Benjamin’s name alive, and to make sure communities are aware of the initiatives we co-produce or support in order to build on and maintain Benjamin’s rich and enduring legacy.

As Benjamin was a man of the people, (‘People Need People’), we will develop links with communities and organisations in order to achieve this.

We want to give everyday people the opportunity to pay their respects as well as to collectively celebrate his life and rhythms.

We want to develop and/or support legacy opportunities for the long-term future which may include achievement awards, student bursaries, international exchange schemes, memorial programmes and much more.
